And the Winner is...

Yes, this is the costume that my girly girl chose after a 3 store-search.
I am thrilled...but at least she is truly excited.

She has a career dress up day at school next week and she chose a police costume to wear. It is a boys costume but looks SO cute on her! So at least I can get a few cute pictures of her in something that isn't totally boyish.

Guess who was Queen of the Day?

Sydney was crowned "Queen of the Day" at school today. Each day the teacher chooses a student to be either the queen or the king for the day. They get to wear a crown all day and each student in the class draws a picture about them. I will scan a few of my favorites that the children made for Sydney. Almost all of the kids drew pictures of Spider-man, noodles, and BLUE to describe Sydney.

On a side-note: Sydney has narrowed her Halloween costume search down to the following costumes (sigh): Spider-Man, Iron-Man, Batman, Joker, Incredible Hulk, Blue Power Ranger, Red Power Ranger, and a Transformer. I am trying to at least talk her into a 2nd costume that is a little girly...still trying.

Help Sydney's Orphanage

We have created a fundraiser to help Sydney's orphanage in China build a new playground and medical room for the children at Wuzhou City SWI. They really need both of them but will not receive funding for them through the usual channels.

We have decided to take on this project of raising the funds because we would love to do something wonderful for the people who have taken such great care of our daughter for the first years of her life and have helped to make our experience a successful one. It will also make a difference in the lives of the children living there who are currently waiting to be adopted and especially for those children who will most likely never leave.

Please click on the link "Help Sydney's Orphanage" on the right side bar to see the details of the project.

3 Months...

June 9, 2008

It has been 3 months since we met our little girl.

It has been 3 months since we held our little girl for the first time.

It has been an amazing 3 months and we look forward to each and every day ahead.

She is truly a gift from God and is perfect in every way.
It is amazing to think that she has only been with us for a few months since she has fit right in with the family.
She has experienced so many new things in the last 3 months than she has in the last 6 years; however, she has also been through more tough times in her short life than most adults.
My thoughts after 3 long years of waiting...
it was worth every second since the journey led us to the daughter we have in our arms today.

Surf and Turf!

We went to a nice restaurant for Andrew's birthday since he really wanted steak and lobster. I was excited because I couldn't wait for Sydney to try some good surf and turf! She loved it and was especially thrilled to wear the little bib. I laughed at one point because she wanted to eat all of the onions off my salad and the chives from my bake potato...she LOVES onions! She is finally starting to eat red meat and loved my steak. She also enjoyed clams and Alaskan king crab legs.
