Sydney's Dance Recital Rehearsal
Sydney is the little one with wearing a dark blue tank.
Sydney had her dance rehearsal tonight for her hip hop class. She has only been in the class a couple of months and does not know the whole routine but she sure loves it!
I cannot wait for the real thing tomorrow night!

Finally our field trip to the zoo!

As you may recall from an earlier post, they tried to go on the filed trip before but the school distric made the buses turn around and go back to the school because of the swine flu. The kids had a great time but there was just too much to see with too little time. We actually ran a little towards the end so that we could see the tigers and bears!

Chinese Dragonboat Races
The Chinese Dragon Boat Race tradition and holiday holds a special place in my heart since we met Sydney for the first time in China on the annual Dragonboat Race holiday last year. We had to pay the staff extra money for them to travel with Sydney 5 hours to Nanning on this holiday. We were so lucky that our meeting day was not delayed. I remember watching the races take place outside our hotel room window and hearing the beat of the drums. It was exciting to see but my mind was on meeting the little girl who would change my life forever. Wow, has it been almost a year?
I will say that the dragonboats were MUCH longer in China and the actual race was much longer, but it was still fun to be a part of it all here in Texas with Sydney. Mark participated in the races and our team came in 2nd place in our division. YAY!!!! I am looking forward to joining him in the fun next year!

The Birthday Celebration Continues

Medievel Times Dinner & Tournament
Tonight we took Sydney to Medieval Times to continue her birthday celebration. I thought she might enjoy it and well I was right... she LOVED IT!
Every time our knight handed out flowers, Sydney jumped up and screamed trying to get his attention! He kept telling her he will be back to give her one soon. We were sitting in the front row and after the 3rd time he came by she looked pretty disappointed that he did not give her one of his flowers. Then as he was getting ready to joust...he came over and had her take his scarf off of his jousting pole!! He chose her over everyone else!! She was so excited and felt so special.
After a little while she asked me if I would hold it and I told her I would but that her chose her to be his Queen. She grabbed the yellow scarf from me and did not let go of it for the rest of the night.
