My Poor Baby

Sydney has done nothing but wish it was HER birthday all year long. We traveled to China right after her birthday and she has had to watch everyone else celebrate their birthday throughout the year. Finally it is her time to SHINE!! We have made all the party reservations and she has been counting the days until her big party.

Today, the Kindergarten had a field trip to the zoo. On the way there our bus was told to turn around and return to the school. Due to the Swine Flu scare, the school district has cancelled all field trips and activities. In Texas, all sporting events have been cancelled until May 11th. I was worried that this would happen and my fears have come true. Several students did not show up to school today due to the flu scare and Sydney's teacher said that the district is recommending that the students not attend parties or attend areas where a lot of children congregate. So basically, We have had to postpone Sydney's party. If we had it anyway, I feel that very few people would show up. I already had several parents call me with concerns.

I just feel for my poor little baby. To say she is devastated is an understatement. She is absolutely crushed. She has waited so long to have her first birthday party ever and she will now have to wait longer. How much longer? I do not know.

Then to top it off, she is so excited about celebrating her birthday at school tomorrow and I am bringing cupcakes up to school...but I fear a lot of kids will stay at home so will not be there to celebrate it.

Bummer....Big Bummer. We were planning to go to Medieval Times tomorrow for dinner to celebrate her birthday (we always take the children out to dinner for their birthday)....Do we still go? Would it put us at risk? I was not expecting this at all.

Hopefully we will learn more about this flu soon and that it can be contained. It is sad all around.

She is just the cutest little thing I have ever seen!

This picture was taken at school and I just had to get the CD with all the images to use as I please. I love them but she had some professional pictures taken at a barn and in the bluebonnets in this outfit and they are amazing!!! I cannot wait for them to be shipped.

My Silly Girl!

I love Sydney for so many reasons and one of them is her love for Spiderman. Actually, it is not what I wanted in the beginning for my little girl but you just can't help but love her for it.
I bought her a new Spiderman tin lunch box and she carried it around all weekend. I took her to pick out her birthday theme supplies and of course she chose Spiderman (small sigh).
Some people ask why I allow my little girl to buy Spiderman (boy stuff) stuff... well, I feel that she should pick out the toys that she likes since she has never had the opportunity before she came to America. I am hoping she will grow out of her Super Hero fascination and move onto dolls or something, but I am not holding my breath on that one.
She certainly knows what she likes and has a strong opinion...I guess that it a good thing.

Fashion Challenge Friday

Sydney loves to pick out her own clothes but we tend to disagree on what looks good. On Fridays I let her pick out whatever she wants to wear as part of the Fashion Challenge Friday from one of my favorite blogs. This is what she chose today. I wish she would at least humor me with girl clothes...nope!
A mix of all of her favorite outfits!

Texas Bluebonnets

It was a beautiful day here despite the poor air quality due to all the raging fires to the west of us. It is supposed to storm tomorrow night so we ran to grab a few pictures in the bluebonnets. Since there was no way I was going to get her in a dress...this outfit will have to do. I think the pictures came out great. I still have a lot of editing to do, so hopefully I will have more pictures up tomorrow.

Six Flags over Texas!

It was a beautiful day here in Dallas so I decided to take Sydney to Six Flags. It was a little chilly so it kept the crowds away. We were able to ride everything as many times as we wanted. We rode he Shock Wave (a double-looped roller coaster) many times in a row! She loved it and screamed "this is my favorite" over and over again. She is definitely a thrill seeker like her mama when she was little.

I love BBQ!

Is it too cold to get into the pool? Nope!

Yes it is coooold! But I do not care!

Sydney was hot after helping us plant flowers today, so she begged us to let her get in the pool. As soon as I said OK, she stripped down to her panties and jumped in! She was cracking us up! She was so excited and it took me back to the first day home when she swam in our pool for the first time. She was screaming with joy! It was wonderful to watch.

I'm Ready for Gardening!

Sydney was excited to help us plant flowers today but hated the smell of the mulch. She said it was "stinky". A few minutes later she came out "all geared up" and ready for planting. She is too cute!

Happy Birthday to Me!

I had a wonderful birthday and I am so glad that I finally had my little girl here to share it with me. My hubby gave me a new GPS system for my car...It's awesome!
