The Next Hannah Montana...

Sydney, It's time to go to bed...

Little Helper

Sydney loves to help out around the house. She insisted on helping mommy tonight with the dishes. She looked so cute on her little stool scrubbing away. She is a little perfectionist so every dish had to be thoroughly cleaned before going into the dish washer.

We just love her!!!

Trampoline Kung Fu!

Sydney loves to practice her Kung Fu on the trampoline. We love watching her "show" each night. I think she has some pretty good moves.

FC Dallas Soccer Game

We took Sydney to a pro soccer game since she will be starting soccer soon. She loves soccer and really enjoyed the game. She was so excited to wear a soccer jersey that we bought at Target...too cute!

Dillon's Birthday Party

No it's not 4th of July, it's my nephew's 1st birthday party. Sydney actually picked this outfit out all by herself! She looked so cute and actually let me put bows in her hair for the first time. The party was at our house and was a huge success.

The Language Barrier

People have often asked us about the language barrier. Well, it hasn't really been much of an issue. It is amazing how much you can communicate without saying a word. Sydney has taught us some basic Chinese and she is also picking up English pretty rapidly. Sydney can also understand a lot more than she is able to speak. We tell her the name of everything and repeat things several times and it is amazing how quickly she is picking it up. I love to hear her say something out of the blue for the first time.
So Like I said before the language barrier has not been a problem...except for yesterday where we had a little misunderstanding.
First of all, Sydney loves cars, car video games, and any kid ride that involves driving a car.
So, yesterday I had to take her to apply for her social security card.
This is what happened:
Me (mom): "We are going today to get you a social security card and it is blue like MaMa and BaBa."
Sydney: "Ok Cool".
She happily jumped in the car and off we went. I then took note of her skipping into the building with a huge smile on her face and yelling "thank you..MaMa". Hmmm, I just sat there in the large crowded room of people thinking what a wonderful child she is and so unlike all of the other children there who were all acting up. So after a waiting for what seemed like forever (she is still sitting amazingly quiet at this point) we went outside to get a toy out of the car. After retrieving her two Tansformer toys, we began to walk back to the building.
This is the point where the language barrier presented itself. She pointed to a car sitting in the front of the parking lot and asked ever so sweetly "Sydney's Car?" "Where Sydney's Car Like MaMa and BaBa?" "Blue?"
It hit me like a brick: She thought I said we were going to get her a C A R not CARD!!! She actually thought we were buying her a car and she really wanted a blue one. I thought to myself well at least she is still getting a "blue CARD".
So, now I had to try to explain to her that were waiting almost 2 hours for an important card and not a CAR. I do not think she quite understood what happened and appeared dumbfounded as we walked out with NOTHING. She was a trooper though and did not fuss but looked a little disappointed.
So I guess I will have to try a speak a little more clearly.

We Braved SIx Flags in 100 Degree Heat!

We decided that since it will be extremely hot for at least another month or two we might as well brave the heat sooner sooner rather than later. So we went prepared: sunscreen, change of clothes and shoes, hats, sunglasses, ans tons of fluids.
When we told people we were going they thought we were crazy and would be miserable.

So how was it? It was actually a lot of fun!

I think the heat scared a lot of people off because it was not that crowded. It was HOT but since we did not have to wait a long time in lines it made it easier to have a great time despite the agonizing heat. We kept cool by constantly drinking, standing under misters, and riding water rides.

While we were in line for the Roaring Rapids, Rylee made it very clear that she did NOT want to get wet. So what do you think happened? You guessed it! I swear every wave of water fell right on Rylee and Sydney! They were completely soaked but they BOTH thought it was funny and enjoyed getting wet.

Sydney loved Six Flags and it quite a thrill seeker. The faster the better!

Cookies and Sillyness

"Sydney made it" it what Sydney said over and over again and it was adorable. It was also cute especially because she says it in a somewhat southern accent.

First Time at the Dentist

I was pretty amazed that Sydney's teeth were in excellent shape...Just a little tarter and no cavities. We are so thankful that Sydney was in an orphanage that taught her such good hygiene skills and took such good care of her. Sydney was actually excited to go to the dentist because she knew that she would end up with "yummy teeth". That is what she says after brushing and when I floss her teeth. She loves to have "yummy teeth". She really smiled when they gave her a mirror to look at her beautiful teeth. She smiled and said "pretty".

Count to 10

Sydney has ben able to count to 10 since the day we met her, but I have finally caught her on video. She can also write the numbers 1 to 10 and hopefully I can catch her doing that on video soon!

H-E-L-L-O

Mark and Sydney have this little "Hello thing" they love to do together. She sounds so cute trying to imitate Mark and I finally caught them on video.

The Diving Board

Sydney loves swimming and was so excited to try out the diving board. The instructors told the kids last week that they would get to jump off the diving board on Monday... shame on them. I had to hear it all weekend! She could not wait and kept asking when she would get to jump off of the diving board.

She was able to jump 3 times and LOVED it!

Our Silly Girl

I tried to take some video of our little girl dancing/jumping around. It is too cute and she does it all the time. She LOVES music and tries so hard to sing along with all of the popular songs. She is such a joy to have around and we are truly blessed. Our house is definitely dancing to a new beat these days!
